Draft pour at Callister. Very dark brown pour. Root beer appearance. Warming, toasty malt aroma, with sweet indication. Flavor is toasty, with some sweetness, and a slight vegetal note. Not great, unless enjoyed side by side with their IPA. Good pieces to this.

Cask at Callister
Hazy dark Amber to brown color with compact head. Toasty and nutty beer, with some dusty British yeast character and bread, but the body is really too thin, almost no bitterness, and the final very short. Being on cask, the carbonation is very low and the temperature is on the high side, but correct; it’s also a bit metallic. Not bad, needs some improvement.

Cask - Very light prune and toffee. Deep clear dark brown with a nice rich beige head. Light toasty notes, touch of raisin and a light finish. Not bad, especially for BC, but not as complex as it could be.

Amber, toasty gula melaka nose, soft body, very drinkable, though sweet and a bit watery in the finish. Served too warm - probably because it’s August and I expect that will be brought down to proper cellar temperature in the cooler months.

On cask at Callister Brewing, pours a hazy dark copper orange with a small white head. Aroma brings toasted English malt and crusty bread - dry authentic smelling. Flavour is clean and smooth, with English malt and crusty rye bread. Smooth and clean, with plenty of flavour. Solid take on a traditional style that we don't see much of here.
