We’ve used 150lbs of locally sourced raspberries from the Fraser Valley to take our ISA to the next level for maximum summertime indulgence. Pouring slightly pink, with bright succulent raspberry aromatics. Look for soft tones of oranges, pink grapefruit and floral notes from the Centennial hops. Magnum adds a moderate bitterness to the finish.

Bottle from the BC People’s Socialist Alcohol Marketing Bureau. Nice purplish-amber colour. Thin, uneven head. The aroma is a lot of raspberry, but on the palate it’s a fairly hoppy brew, with a rich bitterness, and a touch of raspberry taste. Arguably, the balance would be better if the bitterness was toned down a notch, because it seems to clash a bit with the raspberry character. Otherwise, raspberry and hops work just fine, as the Tree raspberry IPA showed, and they are a decent match here, too.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Beautiful clean and bright amber color. To such stunning look doesn’t correspond an equally interesting aroma and flavor; the aroma is too light; the malt flavor is dry and papery, and bitter beers don’t work well with raspberries, because the vegetable bitterness component of the fruit is highlighted, leading to an unpleasant final.
Avoid this beer.

On tap at Bridge, pours a cloudy opaque vibrant orange with a small white head. Nose brings fresh juicy raspberries - not a whole lot else. Flavour is similar, but bringing out more of the ISA character, with fresh raspberries upfront, followed by dry herbal hops and a crisp crackery malt backbone. Well-balanced and good incorporation of the fruit. Finished lightly astringent and a touch pithy. Very good stuff for a hot day.
