Oh Oktoberfest, what has become of this beloved beer style? The Germans make theirs very light these days, and Americans make them (surprise, surprise) quite hoppy. This here is an old school German - style Marzen or Oktoberfest beer: bready, toasty malt notes from Vienna and Munich malts are offset by a kiss of Opal hops to create a beer that is at once rich and refreshing. Enjoy sausage and polka!

On tap at Både &. An unclear golden colored beer with a dense off-white head. The aroma is lightly malty, with a fruity touch. Some notes of wet cardboard, but not in a bad way. Fruity flavor with some pale malts and a distinct sweetness. Medium to full body and a very soft carbonation. Long finish. Nothing special going on, everything is mellow and soft and it’s easy drinkable. 151106

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, as “Fest” Märzen Amber Lager w/Opal Hops
Hazy golden color. Light beer with a mild but nice touch of cereals and hay, the aroma is quite deep actually, fairly real. Light herbaceous hops. Very nice.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orange copper with medium creamy off white head that lasts. The aroma is bready malt, yeast, biscuit. Thin mouth, similar flavors to nose, grain, light dryness, very good.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Nose brings out notes of sweet corn malt and cereal malt. Flavour is clean, with notes of cereal malt, corn, and biscuity notes - very light sweetness. Clean and drinkable, but not overly exciting.
