Pajiza y ligeramente turbia con aspecto de tripel. Muy efervescente, después de minutos sigue burbujeando. Aroma lupulado. En boca, con un cuerpo medio y alta carbonatacion tiene un sabor realmente aromático muy floral, miel. Exceso de gas, pero bastante apreciable.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, 13433 bottle code. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, honey, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, honey, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon. pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, honey, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt sweetness; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian strong pale ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Time for a re-rating of this Duvel epigone. Pours a deep golden blonde, hazy, with little visible fizz, under a creamy, thick, sticky, egg-white head consisting of smallish bubbles and showing quite remarkable retention. Aroma of raw cauliflower, very obvious iron, green apple, powder sugar, soap, peach, some sulphuric lightstruck effect (cat pee) quickly fading away as usual (fortunately), vermouth, wet hay, calvados, freshly cut grass. Taste starts with a vivid, somewhat estery fruitiness in a very subdued way, green apple and green plums, then more sourish, grainy, minerally, metallic, even a bit harsh, hard to pour down. The metallic feel lasts till deep into the finish, where the weary graininess is accompanied by a grassy and leafy, kind of dull hop bitterness and clear ’jenever’-like alcohol with warming, but also somewhat astringent effect, though admittedly it’s the malt sweetness you’ll remember as its last taste. It is no secret this beer began its existence darker (much more orange-coloured), yeastier and sweeter, and if you ask me, they had better kept it that way, I liked this a lot more ten years ago. This current version is just another insult to the Duvel standard, I’m afraid, like Riva’s Lucifer or Alken-Maes’ Judas. Instead of trying to compete with the real thing, Roman had better gone its own way with this. Pity!

33cl Bottle from Gall&Gall. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of fruits, esters, light floral, malts. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, cooked apples, fruits, some yeast, light metallic bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice enough.

33cl bottle from Vanuxeem. Bought due to being given the bar mat a few months ago and always been curious what it was like. Well.. it’s a fairly standard blond Belgian beer. Moderate sweetness, moderate carbonation, quite a mild flavour for the ABV, the yeast taking a back step to its drinkability. Would have again but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Thx! 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Gollem. Golden, huge creamy white head. Smell is muted but sweet, white sugar with hay and light alcohol. Taste is sweet, boozy, white sugar, esters, white bread, touch hay. High carbonation. A very bland Belgian blond with a reasonable amount alcohol & that is it.
