Named “March beer”, this traditional German style was traditionally brewed in March and lagered in caves through the heat of the summer to be drunk in late summer/early fall. Whatever was left over was served at Oktoberfest!

One of our favorite beer styles, this Bavarian-style Lager pours with a gorgeous copper hue. It has a rich aroma of fresh baked biscuits and drinks balanced and smooth. Medium bodied, with a satisfying malty backbone and subtle sweetness, this is an ideal beer for quenching your thirst or pairing with your BBQ dinner.

Poured from the tap. Clear golden orange with white head. Light bread malt, touch of grain, hint of bitterness. Unmemorable.

Has a very faint grain aroma, almost nothing there. There's good clear light brown body with copper hints and a bit of foam on top. Flavour is very soft malt, no complexity nor anything interesting. Mouthfeel is full enough. This is very weak and very boring.

Hazy with an amber colour. Thick head. Crackery malt, and it has a toasty character. Bit yeasty, but with a fresh amber malt taste.

Draft - Caramel and some grains. Clear copper with a decent beige head. Lots of grains with a light bitterness, finishing with caramel. Very grainy.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear copper orange with a small white head. Nose is very restrained, with toasted bready malts characterizing this. Flavour is along the same lines, but with a rather metallic astringency on the finish. Something seems slightly off here. Simple and clean enough, but not the most pleasant of flavours. Meh.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Golden color, hazy, with compact head. The malt has a very good bready, cereally character; it’s not too dry, but the high carbonation hides the sugars; delicate hops with a grassy touch. A bit of honey; more bread in the final.
Very good, for a style that rarely provides good samples.
