25/III/2012 - 25cl bottle @ Galgenhuisje (Gent) - BB: n/a (2012-289)

Clear dark brown beer, small light beige head with big bubbles, dissipates rather quickly. Aroma: pretty yeasty, little metallic, lots of liquorice, some caramel. MF: soft carbon, light to medium body. Taste: sweet caramel, liquorice and anis, slightly bitter. Aftertaste: little metallic, more liquorice, caramel, soft bitter hops in the end. If I would like liquorice, I'd love this beer. But alas, I don't. :p

Nice dark kind of deep amber red color. Not much smell, at least nothing out of the ordinary. Quite well balanced actually, a lot better than I had expected.

Got a bottle from Benzai. Colour on this one was pretty nice. Other than that it?s pretty average. Not bad at all. Rerate 2015: dark brown colour with a small to medium sized off-white head. Smells sweet, malts, raisins, sugar and a bit off. Tastes very sweet, liquorice, raisins, herbs, malts. Very sweet. Medium body, soft carbo.

(bottle, 25cl) Clear, mahogany brown colour with a beige and thick foamy head. Toasty and sugary caramel-malty aroma with subtle berry-fruity notes. Sweet flavour, almost medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Slightly sugary, hearty malty base with traces of berries; rather slim and sweet, also caramelly and slightly fruity finish. 24.V.11

Bottled. Coppery amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is a bit fruity, wooden and quite strong on herbs and earthy notes. Flavour is caramel malts, some slight yeastyness, some fruityness as well as some mild spices. Quite standard with few surprises.

Draught: Poured a dark brown with little to no white head. The aroma was sugary and sweet. The taste is a mix between fruit and roasted malts, the finish was sum what sugary. Very pleasing beer with my stake in Belgium.

Bottle. Coppery brown with no head. Little aroma with a hint of wet dog. Medium body with plenty of carbonation. Sweet dark malt with some spice and bitterness in finish. It’s good but doesn’t really impress; perhaps my palate is jaded.

Dark ruby with a lasting off-white head. Weak fruity and malty aroma. Sweetish flavour with molasses, some fruit and malt and a hint of licorice. Dry finish.
