Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

Tasting at Svijet piva, Zagreb. Black, very small beige head, leaves a trace on the glass. Fruits, strawberry, bread-like, cherry, too. Sweet, thick, soft with strong chocolate finish. Liked it very much.

500 ml bottle. Clear dark brown, almost black body with a huge, lacing, long lasting beige head. Looks perfect in the glass. Really nice aroma of dark malt, coffee, dark chocolate and traces of vanilla. Flavor is sweet, roasted, dark malt, dark chocolate, mocha, fruity, pine, hint of leather and rather bitter. Full bodied and nice, long lasting aftertaste. A really nice Imp. stout – pure joy all the way.

Shared bottle. Pitch black with small light brown head. Marzipan, lots of roasted malts, molasses, dark chocolate pudding, fresh citrusy hops. Taste is medium to strong sweet with medium to strong roasted and hoppy bitter finish. Body is quite a bit short of full, which doesn’t really work well with the bitter finish for me. Otherwise really good RIS.

Shared with Hrabren, Habek and Anja T. I guess. Poured a black body with a brown-tan-gray head. Fresh creamy aroma, heaps of raisins, liiiight alcohol. Very nice taste, slightly milder than expected, raisins, vague coffee, sweetish, creamy, Nescafé 3 in 1 sorta tast, light herbal notes. Not too heavy, not too light. Didn’t thrill me for some reason, dunno why, though it’s definitely a nice beer.
