Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

22 Oz bottle brought to a tasting. Thanks Dad! Pours black with a fading tan head. Mild boozy aroma. Flavor is nice chocolate fronted, with a mild roasted malt background. Cool chocolate finish. Unique stout, and very tasty. Very nice to finally try this.

Bottle. Pours black, with an enormous creamy mocha head. Aroma is fantastic roasted malts with cocoa and liquorice, as well as coffee, wooden barrels and tobacco. Full, velvety body, with creamy texture, and with almost no carbonation. Flavour is burned malts, with coffee, cocoa and liquorice, as well as vanilla wooden barrels, tobacco and some herbal notes. Lingering sweet malty finish, with cocoa and liquorice. Big, bodacious and brilliant, and definitely not a session beer.

Keg at BrewDog Birmingham. Pitch black with little head but considerable lacing. Molasses/treacle, coffee and caramel aroma. Taste is sweet at first but it quickly morphs into an intense, almost acrid bitterness. Medium to long bitter espresso finish. Hop bite in the aftertaste. Very drinkable for the ABV. The palette is thinner than many imperial stouts, which adds to the accessibility of this brew.

Bottled 500ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Deep black coloured, small to medium sized brown head, roasty alcoholic nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, dried fruits and licorice with light alcoholic and smokey/ashy notes. Again chocolate in the finish. Really nice one.
