Vicaris Tripel/Gueuze is the perfect thirst-quencher for hot summer days. For this beer, brewery Dilewyns works together with a renowned gueuze brewer from the Zenne valley.
The complex interaction between Vicaris Triple and gueuze makes this beer unique. The sharp sourness of the spontaneously fermented lambiek beautifully counters the fruity and soft Vicaris Triple. The result is a rich beer with a fresh mild acidity and a soft finish.
Vicaris Triple/Gueuze is only available from May to September (subject to availability).

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Aroma was some funky yeast notes, some pepper, farmhouse notes. Flavor was some tart apples, yeast, sour notes in this one. Pretty enjoyable, pretty refreshing.

The Ginger Man, NY tap ($10): Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma is funk, vinegar, whine, spice, and mild fruitiness. Taste is somewhat sour. Tastes like half a lambic for sort of obvious reasons. Body is really light. I think the gueze aspects take over a lot of the tripel, but, that being said, it is still well balanced. i would have liked it to be a bit heavier though.

Bottle at home. It pours hazy gold with a thick, fluffy white head. The nose is lightly sour, barnyard, damp wood, melon, apple, spice, hay, roast beef crisps and tangerine. The taste is hay, barnyard, light sourness, spice, tart apple, melon, pear, sherbet, orange peel, damp leaf and some mouldy wood with a dry, warming finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Interesting, but I donβt think the balance is quite there.

Tap. Pours hazy golden with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is tart, funk, lemon and wood. Flavor is the same with muted funkiness. Lightly sweet, light tart. Finish is dry, a bit tart and faintly metallic. Body is medium. Kind of a training wheel gueuze; you get the basic notes, but very muted and tempered.
