"High quality belgian blond beer, masterpiece from the masterbrewers at Leffe". Refined bitterness and delicate hops aromas. Charles Nouwen, brewmaster of Leffe, traveled the world in search of the best hops. Whitbread Golding Hops is grown in the Poperinge region of Belgium. Leffe Royale Whitbread Golding is the original recipe for Leffe Royale, launched in 2012. Its delicate bitterness with citrus and resinous notes, reminiscent of that of banana or vanilla, as well as flowery aromas define this exceptional beer.

330ml bottle from Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours deep gold with great head and beautiful fruity / floral aroma. Great creamy blond taste with a sumptuously sweet floral taste with a hint of bubblegum. One of the best Leffes in my opinion and actually think it may have improved since the last time I had this a few years back?

750 mml tasted on 02/05/2014. Light orange colour with a lot of bubbles but a tiny head. Aroma of caramel and apples. The taste is very intensive, with a lot of carbonation on the mouth. Prolonged dry bitternes on the aftertaste. Next one please!

Trübes bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig süß, überreife Früchte, hefig, würzig. Geschmack malzig fruchtig, reife Früchte, leicht alkoholisch, würzig.

Sweet and yeasty blond beer, with fruity notes. It’s a bit too artificial, tastes fake.

From a mini-tap. Clear amber colour, clear, good foamy white head. Aroma of bread, toast, grass, herbs, leaves, alcohol. Mild and creamy sweet and bitter taste. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, malty finish, overall a very tasty beer.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear golden pour, thick white, long-lasting head. Tripel-style aromas, light spice, honey and spicy yeast. Taste is more sweety than anything, alcohol noticeable. Sticky finish. Not bad.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Clear amber, rich head. Metallic blueberry aroma. Sweet with clean, oily mouthfeel and medium body. Fruity with treacle and marzipan, notes of boiled vegetables. Syrupy finish with banana and resin. A poorly brewed belgian ale is not much better than a poorly brewed pale lager.

Posh looking .75 litre cork and caged bottle poured into 3 Leffe stemmed tulip/chalices on 20th Dec 13. Looked fine, an orange hue to the golden almost clear body, with a white covering that hung around: nicely carbonated, you could see the bubbles rising through the beer. It went a bit downhill after that: the aroma was grainy and slightly fruity but as the beer warmed it became metallic and not so pleasant. The taste also went iffy as it warmed a little, started off crisp and sharp with a semi-sweet lead it then turned on me; again being metallic, the alcohol also became apparent in the mouth. Drink it fast and cold or not at all.
