Bottle. Near black pour topped with a thin brown head. A lot of sweetness in the nose, roast, a little Belgian yeast, chocolate, and anise. Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of Belgian imperial stouts and it sort of shows here. Roast, overly sweet, and more Belgian yeast. A little cocoa. At least the anise is moderate, but still a little sweet for me.

Bottle poured. Pours cola black with a fizzy tan head. Cocoa chocolate, soft vanilla, and roasted malt flavor and aroma. Caramel like flavor as well. Spent some time sipping this one. There really is a lot going in here, and flavor is full. Nice imperial without an overpowering sweetness to it. Awesome beer.

On Tap black with a small tan head. Very dark roasty, some soapy licorice notes. A little sweetness and some sharp bitter roast bite at the end.

On tap at Belmont Station Bier Cafe, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out cocoa, Belgian yeast, and light coffee. Flavour is robust, with roasted malt, dry cocoa, and light Belgian yeast. Wonderfully balanced and quite complex. Really really nice stuff.
