Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010. Black body with a diminishing beige head. Nice aroma of roasted coffee, mocha, dry fruit and chocolate. Flavor is sweet malt, roasted coffee, chocolate, fruit, hops and warming alcohol. Long aftertaste and full body. Very nice and smooth.

On tap at KØ-10. It’s a black beer, topped by a small, tan head. Burnt malts, dried fruit notes and a boozy touch on the nose. The flavor is sweet and burnt, with notes of tar, some booze and a nice hoppy flavor and bitterness. It’s full-bodied and a bit sweet, yet it feels rather dry on the palate. The finish is more or less like the initial flavor, and stays in the mouth for quite some time. Even though it comes in small bottles, it’s a beer that easily lasts for an hour. Well balanced sweetness and heavily roasted to burnt malts, and with a fine bitterness and flavor from the hops too. 100508

750ml bottle #036. I tasted this once before, and decided to score a couple bottles for home consumption. Now that, was a good call! It’s just as good as I remembered!!! Note to all 666 drinkers, the 375ml have been rumored to be flat, but the 750 was perfectly carbonated. This demon drink oozed out of the bottle to fill my snifter with a black mass culminating in a tan two finger head. An intoxicating aroma loaded with dark chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt permeated the air. The taste, oh the taste. It’s not quite DarkLord but deserves to be mentioned in the same breath. A chewy complex multi-layered river of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, and dark middle earth evilness run rough shot over the senses... My girl even said this brew is so good and corrupting that she might just miss church next week to spend her time practicing witchcraft and experimenting with lesbianism...

Little, dark green 180ml bottle bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. Coal-black. A beige-brownish layer can be stirred up. Delicious aroma of chocolate with discreet notes of dark fruits. Dark, roasted chocolate malts in flavour added by bitter liquorice and coffee. Malt bitter ending with warming alcohol. Very dry on the swallow. Full bodied. Nice sipper and well suited for our green winter up north. The number of this beast was 419 (Tromsø, 23.07.2010).

gracias to retorp for sharing this one. dark brown pour, tan head. aroma, lots of booze, chocolate malts, barrel goodness. flavors, light char, syrupy palate, plenty of roasted malts, coffee and wood. Touch of vanilla, thick chocolate mouthfeel with a mild lingering char finish that is overdone.

Not sure who brought this puppy to the tasting. Pours murky chunky mahogany with nice tan head and spotty lacing. The aroma is big bold smooth oak blending into sweetness like smooth brown sugar bourbon, vanilla, charred malts, black licorice and chocolate. The taste is both smooth and bold at the same time with molasses, charred oak, big spicy hop – spicy oak, chocolate, vanilla and more spicy hops into the finish. Wow!

5th March 2010. Pre ZBF. Opaque black beer, little brown head. Dry palate. Complex fruit tones. A little spicy dark malt. A little sweet wood and a hint of cognac. Finishes dry. Spicy aftertaste. Complex tasty beer and the standout beer of Pre ZBF 2010.

Bottled. Opaque, small brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, coffee, dark chocolat. Bit sweet, quite bitter. Sticky. Lingering finish. Hint of vanilla and oak. After a cold and couple of weeks without an imperial stout, this stuff is absolutely amazing!
