Bottle no. 1228 from Bier Temple in Brussels. Pours thickly brown/black. Aroma of rich, smooth dark chocolate. Thick body. Little carbonation. It’s rather like drinking good chocolate syrup. Though not that sweet. Heat virtually absent. A tour de force. Marvelous. How did they do this?

Tiny wee bottle. Kahlua coffee sirup and port aroma, roasted grain. Black with a brown lacing ring. Kaffepunch initially - styrong coffee and schnaps, licorice, brown sugar, hops in the very end. Creamy mouthfeel, thick but never too candyish. Coffee and herbs retronasal.

18cl bottle. pitch dark, smooth small brown head. aroma of coffee, roasted malts, faint charchoal. Flavor is coffee, roasted grains, brown sugar, salt licorice, rye. The licorice and the hops combine to make a sort of soy sauce like flavor note that i don’t particularily like. Even with that, a pretty tasty imp. stout.

Draught @ pre-ZBF Festival 2010, Kasteel der Lakebosschen, Lakebosschendreef 4, Ruddervoorde, Belgium.Clear dark brown black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, hard roasted coffee, espresso, smoke - peat, cognac, vanilla. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft. Once again a great job done by Menno, asolutely my favorite beer of the festival, I went also for bottles but before Mes ;O)) [20100304]

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, wood, alcohol, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, wood, alcohol, and soy sauce, leading to a smooth, dry, and alcoholic finish.

Bottle at Pre ZBF 2010. Oak chips soaked in cognac in this. Very thick in the mouth. Black colour with tan head. Love it. I think the regular version is better for the aroma and mouthfeel.

75cl bottle from de Bierkoning (a much better deal than the 18 cl bottle). Pours black, with not much head, but still some carbonation. Aroma is very roasted (almost burnt), coffee, a hint of cognac and vanilla, flavor is bittersweet with hints of coffee, chicory, bitter chocolate. Full bodied. I love it that the cognac is detectable but not overly present. Delicious!

Bottle at pre-ZBF 2010. The 666 idea came from Urbain Coutteau’s Black Damnation, not the other way around. Black, tan head. Aroma and taste of Hershey bar. Good character and complexity, nice brew.

Pre-ZBF .... WOW great beer... deep black ... creamy tan head ... quite bubbly ... soft coffee roast nose... swet and juicy ... coffee roast ... little toffee ... solid deep roast malts ... and oddly a little raspberry...4.3 Tk2 -Tk7 detail to follow ... but WOW. we had some from a bottle at RBESG ... it was so good we asked Alex to Buy some ... he quoted a insalyh low price ... so i got 3 of them and then some one picked up a keg and says at the price this is a bargain ... So alex says to throw the keg onto the bus ... i assume were going to tap it up and have some in 4:20 but oh no... its cracked open on the Bus and The beer Hand pulled by Menno... by dipping a cup in and pulling it out ... Man this is a World Class beer and i drunk Way too much of it ... This is clearly in my top 5 ... 4.7 Tk8 at home ... deep black ...thin lacing .... deep roast malt ... light bitter ... little coffee ... little nutty nose ... big chocolate ... light coffee ... solid roast ... big beer... very nice but its not quite the Hand pulled version :-) deep black ... deep chocolate roast nose... dark roast ... sweet malts ... toffee roast ... chocolate ... rich and complex ... woody oaky ... delightful ... 4.5 tap at demolen 2011 ... lovely that is all My Name is Craig Garvie and i approve of my last rating .. 4.6
