So called because of its truly "ruinous" effect on your palate, this massive hop monster will change forever your preconceptions of what defines good beer. This is Stone IPA's big brother, and we mean BIG. We essentially began with our already-awesome Stone IPA, threw in an extra-large helping of malt, and added a lot more hops. And then some more. And then even more, resulting in a vibrant blast of citrusy bitterness that hits you on the first sip. Just one taste and you'll know why we call this indelicate jewel "A liquid poem to the glory of the hop!"

Hazy amber beer. Thin white head. Light hoppy nose. Softish and slightly silky palate, semi dry. Palate is perfect for delivering the full on hops. There is grass and pine and good bitterness. Just light fruity grapefruit. Finishes with a carbonated sting and lingering bitterness. Refreshing and unapologetic in-your-face IPA.

Craft Islington. Keg. Fresh! Skunky hops well balanced with pine and citrus. Bitterish marmalade. Nice creamy malt base. Delicious!

Bottle @ Ørsted Ølbar. Hazy golden with a lasting and creamy white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and rather hoppy - grapefruit and pine needles. Flavor is quite sweet and very bitter. Dry and very bitter finish. 250412

One of my fav’s. The hops jump out of the bottle and attack from the first whiff to the last taste. Not a particularly fruity IPA, but hoppy and refreshing nonetheless.

May 2010: A pint glass poured for me at Pour 24 (New York, New York), Las Vegas. The beer has an orange hue to its amber body, on top sat a thin off-white head of random sized bubbles. The smell was your typical hop head US IPA, meaning a selection of hop aromas, each trying to outmanoeuvre and control the variety of its mates within the brew. The taste/flavours are also all hop, some malt is there in the background, but the hops that dominate the smells change around so other hops take centre stage in the bitterness stakes. Obviously the hops rule this beer, but it has other factors (unbalanced/yet different/engaging/yet annoyingly nasty) which help to make it worth finding, glad I did.

Yellow-orange body with a white fizzy head. Very hoppy floral aroma with a distinct presence of cleaning products which make the aroma very chemical, just like those sprays to give the toilet a better aroma - in this case it is forest aroma. I assume it is simply too hoppy. Flavour is harshly bitter, lightly sweet and on the edge of no longer being balanced. Taking the harshness of the bitterness into account, it is still quite ok. The mouthfeel is very intense as well as the finish where this bitter touch is better in place.

Can from The Beerhive. Clear golden body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of pine and Lockets. Flavour of honey, orange and a bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A proper west coast DIPA, bold and tongue-tinglingly bitter.

Picked this up for about $7 at my local store. First time having it. Poured into a Tulip. Not sure bottling date.
A - Deep Leather appearance. 3-Finger head offwhite with big and small bubbles.
S - Eggs, cream, pine wood, fairly intense hops and nice citrus notes.
T - Very subdued hops. Maybe this bottle isn’t so fresh. Pine notes, some vanilla and lemon flavor. Overall, pretty basic IPA with little going on. It must be an old brew.
M - Huge carbonation that fills your mouth. Very intense and a strong astringent linger
O - This was clearly once a great beer. I think age wrecked havoc.

22 oz bottle. Damn, this brew destroys palates! It’s almost like the smashed up dirty hop cones and just drained everything into a fermenter, let it sit for 8 weeks and BAM here is the DIPA! Good lord. Resinous floral hop with huge pine notes and maybe I find malt through all these hops. Moderately acidic dry pine flavor with alcohol notes but mostly covered by the hops. Medium bodied and lively tingle on the tongue. Make this a night finisher because you will not be able to taste anything after it. It’s a bit much for this guy.

Bottle shared @ Ölrepubliken. Pours hazy reddish yellow with a fluffy with head that leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fresh and hoppy with grapefruit, lemon peal, peaches, caramel, apricots, plums, pine, wood and grass. Taste is malty sweet and bitter with caramel, pine, grapefruit, grass and plums. Mouthfeel is medium bodied (on the thin side). Finish is slightly sweet and quite bitter with lots of citrus.
