So called because of its truly "ruinous" effect on your palate, this massive hop monster will change forever your preconceptions of what defines good beer. This is Stone IPA's big brother, and we mean BIG. We essentially began with our already-awesome Stone IPA, threw in an extra-large helping of malt, and added a lot more hops. And then some more. And then even more, resulting in a vibrant blast of citrusy bitterness that hits you on the first sip. Just one taste and you'll know why we call this indelicate jewel "A liquid poem to the glory of the hop!"

One of the first regularly brewed and bottled imperial IPAs.

Pours hazy amber with a huge white head. Aroma of tropical fruit notes and sweet malt. Taste has sharp hop bite on the tongue, pine and resin. Palate has sweet tropical notes overlaying the pine bite. Really good.

Bottle from Dkachur, thanks Dan! Orange blonde color. Malt, pineapple, hopoil and grapefruit in the aroma. Malty sweetish at first, with immediately an oily hoppiness banging in. Grapefruit, pineapple. Oily hopbitter aftertaste. Well balanced, with soft and velvety notes. Quite pleasant and likeable.

From Jun 2006

poured from 22oz bottle a medium gold with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving a solid layer with good lacing.

The smell is a citrusy hop..a mix of lemon and grapefruit.

The taste has a huge hop flavour initially that is quite bitter but as I swish the brew in my mouth, there *is* a definite malt presence there that softens the hop attack a bit but yeah, make no mistake aboot it...this brew is a hop bomb first and foremost and that's a good thing. ;^) That's why I keep picking up this beer when I make my(in) frequent jaunts to Colorado.

Bottom line: A great DIPA that, imho, deserves the reputation that it has acquired. I Highly Recommend it!
