Our interpretation of a Flanders-style red ale, also known as a sour brown. This is a complex, wild beer whose tart and tangy character comes from months of barrel-ageing in old oak casks. Very limited bottle release for our 3rd Anniversary.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. It’s somewhat of a foamer. Head is foamy beige. Liquid is arguably dark orange/copper. Such aroma as escapes through the foam does suggest a Flanders sour red/brown. Roughly medium body. Flavor is that oaky/sour West-Vlaanderen red ale. I’d say it’s pretty much spot on.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of vinegar and brown sugar. Flavors of rye bread and wet grain with an initial but fleeting citrusy sourness. Nothing very special for the hype.

Draft - Tart malts and cherry notes. Clear copper with a decent beige head. Cherry, woody, light soured malts. Pretty nice.

Tap at Breakside, 25/05/13. Murky chestnut brown with a thin beige head. Nose is soured dark fruit, bitter orange, light balsams. Taste comprises tarte fruit, dates, soured berry fruits, bitter orange notes, balsamic vinegar, woody notes, sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, a little puckering in the finish. A decent enough drop.
