Bottle, Legacy. Very dark brown, with a head that frothed up quite a bit. The aroma has chocolate and pine, woody notes, some nice roast. On the palate, this is quite dry, and a roastiness that borders on harsh. The rye lends the beer chewiness, but it’s not the biggest body for the style. Hoppy, piney, dry finish. I like it, but mostly because I like the style - it’s an edgy version that has some structural issues, especially being a little thin and austere.

2016-11-05, draught at the brewery, 5.8% ABV, 6-4-7-4-14=35
The aroma is lightly cheesy.
This batch, although equally roasty, seems more hoppy and resinous than the previous one I had, last year. An improvement.

Black color with brownish head. Mild aroma of roasted malt. Quite dry, but with a good body strength; smooth mouthfeel; the roasted character is aggressive, rather ashy, followed by some hop resins and strong bitterness.
Good, but more ashy, burnt and less hop quality than other Black IPAs.

Draft - Roast and lots of pine. Jet brown with a nice light brown head. Lots of bitterness up front, pine and a roast rich finish. Pretty decent.

On tap at Bridge, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out earthy hops, a decent amount of rye, and roasted malt. Flavour is quite roasty and earthy, with the rye coming out upfront, along with moderate roasted and highly earthy hops. A little dirty, but still solid. Finished earthy and with a slight sweetness. Needs a little work, but it's quite decent.
