This intense Imperial Stout is defined by its high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, it creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a complex beer. Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written.

bottle via MrManning, thanks!

jet black pour, very dark brown head. Aroma is loaded with coffee, roasted/burnt malt, some slight ripe fruit, with alcohol in the mix. Flavour is very very roasty, a good maltiness, some very biter hops, and loads of coffee in the aftertaste with a wicked bitter finish. THe 14% is VERY well hidden, and this is a very complex but very enjoyable beer.

From tap at Mikkeller & Friends, Reykjavik. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, cocoa, chocolate, fruity notes, cherries, hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Body is medium to full. A rather hoppy Imperial Stout, nice...

Bottle shared from a friend. Pours a jet black with a medium mocca head. Aromas of burned coffee, wood, booze, sweet dark fruits, grassy hops, dark chocolate. Taste is quite sweet up front, burned wood and coffee takes over, quite hoppy finish with a dry burned feel to it aswell.

Tap at Gar Eden. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, chocolate, little smoke and spice, roast, just a hint of booze. Taste is good, very smooth, surprisingly easy drinking, roast, malty sweetness, bit of bitterness, gets more full on as it warms, more bitterness, more booze, black treacle, rich, actually increasingly bitter. Preferred it at the start. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Hole on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Corked bottle. Black and opague. Licorice, roast, cream and dark chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweet, full bodied. Salty flavor with licorice, pepper and coffee. Creamy chocolate. Very tasty, the alcohol is well hidden, the balance is fair, but there are a few raw edges that prevent this beer from scoring even higher.

Wow, what a label, and then I saw Mikkeller and that it was a stout of some kind. Obtained at an upscale beer shop in Santa Fe in October, it is getting the try tonight. I selected my New Belgium tulip for the tasting. The lid comes off and I make the pour out of a 12.7 oz bottle. The body is coal black with a resolute light-to-medium tan skim of foam, The scent is strong licorice, sour dough bread and blackberry, all good. But I am here for the drink. Heavy on the malt, quickly a berry sweetness, oatmeal, cracker, light chocolate and firmly bitter at the end. Not as viscous as other imperial stouts but that is not a bother, just an observation. A very good effort, not a favorite.

Starzone perfekcyjnie w ciemnej piwnicy ok 4 lata. Klasa sama w sobie. Polecam do sera pecorino, ekstra pasowalo.
