This intense Imperial Stout is defined by its high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, it creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a complex beer. Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written.

dark brown colour, 1 inch dense, long lasting brown head; aroma of chocolate, toffee, coffee, alcoholic sweetness and hoppyness in the background;incredibly complex taste - fresh hoppyness just for a short moment, dominance of malty sweetness with chocolate and caramel, then roastedness and coffee arrive followed by intensive and long lasting bitterness; amazing beer!

Bottle 0.375, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. BBE 14/08/11. Colour is black with almost no head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, chocolate, sweetness and roasted malts.

Decent. A little unbalanced - too heavy on the syrup. Nonetheless it drinks pretty decent. Pours black with no head, slight lacing. Has some musky chocolate and booze in smell. Finishes a little too sweet from the syrup. Bottle tasting at volos.

Keg@Fermentoren, Copenhagen. Black coloured pour with a small to medium beige head. Beautiful aroma and taste of roasted malty dark chocolate, dark fruits, pleasant hoppy balance as well, with some vanilla and liquorice in there as well. Wow, this is just immense.

Smell of rye bread, licorice and tar. Black with minimal dark brown head. Watery(?) to start with, followed by alcohol, malts, rye bread and tar, finishes with chocolate and coffee, some ash. Next to no carbon. Wateriness disappears with temperature.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown almost black pour with tan head, coffee aroma, taste give an alchohol kick laced with coffee chocoalte rich malts some vanilla raisins, glorious impy.

Into my nonic, it pours a gentle dark brown almost close to black and gave the same color body with a beautiful two inch creamy tan head, slowly dieing into beautiful lumpy valleys and leaving beautiful sporadic lacing. The smell is centered around strong notes of milk chocolate, coffee and some slight hops come in as the beer warms. The taste takes all of those flavorings to make an awesome sweetness rolling around in my mouth. The palate is heavy with an absolutely perfect smooth creaminess. Overall, I was not expecting this, but this beer is superb for its style and spectacular to me.

Aroma has licorice, some hay, coffee and distant rubber notes – and Nøgne house aroma(!). Flavour has rubber, some alcohol, harsh bitterness, licorice, some alcohol and distant coffee notes. Nice sipper, Black’s little brother. But definitely not little.

Pours black with a dark tan head.Nose shows heavy roasted malt, liquorice, cocoa, nutty notes, golden syrup, bready malt and caramel.Sweet flavours at first with lots of sweet caramel and candy-like notes. Then soft booze, spicy hops and coffee.Syrupy body suits the beer. Could use a bit more carbonation.
