Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

Bottle from a friend. Poured a dark deep dark mahogany with a thin tan head. The aroma is big roasted malt with lots of earthy peat notes. The flavour is medium bitter with a liqourice bitter malt palate.

From the November 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a trace soapy tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweet cocoa, black licorice, cracker and toasty malts. The flavor was bitter, roasty and a bit watery and a bit smoky with a dryish toasty presence and undertones of hot peppers and vanilla. Medium length finish of roasty malts, smoke, vanilla and hot peppers. Full bodied and smooth though undercarbonated. Ok.

Draft at gingerman as I escape work for a few. Pours jet black with nose of pepper and chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate, raisins, ash, black pepper and the you feel hot peppers in back of nose and throat on finish. Slight boozy quality but drinkable with a lot going on

From a 330ml bottle on 1/9/2013. Pours jet black with a smallish tan head. The aroma is pleasant, featuring lots of chocolate and some caramel malt. The falvour features lots of dark chocolate with some nutty and roasty malt at the back. The hot pepper is really pronounced, hitting you immediately and lingering long after the swallow. Has a fullish body and perhaps a little more carbonation that a typical impy. This is nicely put together and the pepper angle makes it unusual, but the pepper is just a little too much for me, as it made me feel like having a glass of water afterwards. That said, I can see why others would rate this quite highly.

Bottled 330ml. -from Za Popenโ€™t Pivoteka, Ljubljana. Deep black coloured, medium sized brown head, slight vinous roasty nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, light alcohol with notes of wood. No pepper anywhere. Not bad for Italian imp. stout.

On tap @ Beer Temple. Black color. Dense beige head, with a thin layer retention. Aromaโ€™s: roast, ground coffee, with retronasal some malty sweetness, chocolate and hints of (red?) fruit. Flavor is roasted, lightly sweet with a hint of acidity. It does have a spicy mouth/throat feel, but not really burning. Medium bodied. Finishes with roast, ash, medium bitter.

Tap at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 20th June 2013. Good flavoursome impy, would have liked the chilli a little more forward, seemed to only come though on the linger. Not bad
