Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

Bottle from Liquor Junction, Reading. Opaque dark brown, nice viscosity, thin cap of head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is chocolate, earthy roasted malt, coffee, toffee. Taste is chili, chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, coffee. Smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Not terribly strong but excellent complexity and balance. Excellent surprise!

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours essentially black with a lovely tan head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet character, chocolate, coffee, toasted nut, praline, touch chilli pepper spice, some Muted smoke and liquorice. The taste is initially smooth, bitter - sweet, dark chocolate, toasty spice, slightly charred, burnt toast, dark roasted malt well judged chilli pepper spice, hint of alcohol, umami, liquorice, nuttiness and praline with a charred, roasty finish. Medium - fulsome body and soft, fluffy carbonation. Nice balance to it. Decent.

Bottle @ LCRBM 2008. Hot chili? Are you kidding? Didn’t taste anything of it.. Roast and licorice in the aroma. Licorice, coffee and cardemom in the sweetish flavor. Apple syrup. Nothing special, though drinkable.
