Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

33cl bottle from Bierkompass. Black color, thick, brown head, lasting. Dark chocolate, roasted malt, strong coffee. Flavor has coffee, roasted malt, wood, some sour notes in the background, licorice. Dry, bitter finish with moccha and some heat from the peppers. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied. Good IS.

Draught @ Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend 2015
Aroma has cocoa and sweet malty notes. Feels like Slottskällans IS. Flavour has cocoa, milk chili notes and some coffee. Leathery finish. Still good, I like the mild chili here.

Draft - Smokey bitterness, typical for this style. Dark with a brown thin head lingering around the edge. Rich malty taste, the chilli definately present with a refreshing sweetness allowing it to be a beer you can drink all night.

330ml bottle. Deep dark brown with macropore, quickly fading dark beige head. Dark malty, sweet, nuttily and minimally alcoholic aroma, a little bit flat overall though. Taste is sweet, with hints of liquorice, soy sauce, a dry hoppy note; slightly soapy finish.

Weird looking bottle @ ZZT III, courtesy of Joes. Pitch black opaque color, small off-white to beige lacing. Don’t smell much, lightly coffee, lightly dark malts. Taste malts, dark malts, slight hints of coffee and a lightly spicy finish. Low to medium carbo, medium body, lightly oily texture.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexendria 10oz ($10): Pours a black color with a moderate brown head. Aroma has anise, roasted malt, and some definite Belgianesque quality to it. I liked sniffy it plenty. Fortunately, I had not problem sipping it either. This is kind of a mild Imperial Stout. It relies more on subtlety than it does on broad powerful gestures. The pepper is a nice touch without being overly spicy. There is a nice little mild sweetness. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety. I got this beer on a whim, and I cannot say that I did not thoroughly enjoy it. I kind of don’t understand where these low ratings are coming from.
