The first beer to ever be brewed in Borgorose is still the most loved and appreciated. Inspired by traditional British India Pale Ales it has intense aromas given by American aromatic hops. Amber in color, it has a medium body, the aromas are clearly of citrus fruits and peppery. Carbonation is slightly low as traditional to its style. The mouthfeel leads to a persistent and intense bitterness.

Borgo’s well-known APA, at Gollem. Loose, irregular, off-white, moussy head, hazy orange blonde robe, cloudy with deposit and a bit murky. Aroma of red apple, animalistic horse sweat, mouldy orange, overripe peach, mango, acacia honey, biscuit. Fruity, crisp onset, peachy, hint banana, orange freshness, light green olive-like umami touch, soft carbo, light bready malts with a subtle toasted edge, long dry finish of aromatic citrus peel hoppiness, gentle and not too earthy, but there is quite a lot of yeastiness in the end as well, mildly bittering. Notably less clean than the Extra version I hugely enjoyed, probably not fresh enough for this style either, but still a very pleasant Italian craft beer, from, it must be said, a very elegant bottle again.

Bottle from Foodshow in Tokyo on sale for only ¥400. Pours a hazy amber with a one-finger off-white head that lingers. Pine and grapefruit on the nose with some light funkiness (maybe from the yeast). Taste is lightly bitter on the palate with some funky light horse blanket noticeable. Finishes crisp with a light bitterness. Interesting take on a pale. I like the funky yeast character. --- Beer merged from original tick of ReAle on 03 Nov 2015 at 17:25 - Score: 7

Bottle at Gollem. Pours dark amber, good and steady, creamy white head. Smell is ambermalts, with a bitter, hoppy touch and a sweet sidenote. Taste is Caramel malty (Very) and has a full-bodied bitterness next to it. Kind of sweet touch reminds of added sugar. Ok beer, expected a bit more though

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy amber body with a thick off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, orange and lime. Flavour of blood orange, grapefruit brown bread and honey. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A delicious beer - probably an IPA rather than an APA.
