A growler on Black Christmas 2016 at 12 Kings. Aroma is oily, chocolate, roasted malt, seeds. Taste is quite dry, pretty similar to the aroma. Still very good after 2 years in the growler.

Roast and some dark chocolate. Black pour with some head. Bittersweet finish. Not bad, and pretty well balanced. I like the light musk in finish. Tap at Drake.

Draught @ Brewpub

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, grass, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet, roasty and salty with notes of licorice, dark chocolate and coffee. Finish is salty, roasty and sweet with notes of coffee and licorice, hints of anise. Quite heavy and sweet imperial stout.

Very dark brown, thin head, smells nice....chocolate, slightly nutty, light and minerally coffee (pourover), full and slightly fatty body with a touch of alcohol in the finish. Nutty light coffee and a touch of dark fruits, this has a balanced drinkable character you seldom see in impies these days. A throwback in a good way.

2014-01-11, draught at the brewery, 6-4-8-4-15=37
Good body, rich malts, some chocolate, moderate residual sweetness. Light coffee. Strong bitterness with a lot of hop resins.

2013-12-30, draught at the brewery, 6-4-7-4-14=35
Black color with brownish head. Mild aroma of roasted malts. Lean body; the roasted malt and dark chocolate flavor is quite good, supported by very light residual sweetness, some roasted nuts; correct bitterness; there is a light liquorice impression; the final is lightly creamy.
Balanced and well brewed.

On tap at Brassneck Brewery, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of roasted malt, some chocolate, and some oats - on the sweeter side. Flavour brings out loads of roasted malt, bitter dry chocolate, some oatmeal, and bitter hops. Very roasted, dry and bitter. Finishes on those notes with powdery notes.
