From the bottle. Brown with a thin, frothy head that fades completely. Aroma is roasted grains, toast, licorice. Taste is mildly sweet up front with plum jam and caramel overtones. Goes down with an increasing tartness but ends up mildly bitter and a touch salty. Medium body with a light and fading carbonation. Okay.

Bottle from Prik & Tik, Sijsele. Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, foamy, beige head; little lacing. Inviting aroma of milk chocolate, roasted peanut, coffee & cream, candied fig, faint vanilla, coffee liqueur, salted caramel (so at least a hint of salt?). Medium malty sweet onset, note of chocolate & creamy vanilla (dessert, basically), a bit nutty, light roasted bitterness after that with coffee roast, something herbal, and a faint raisin-like sourness. Dryish, toasty finish, lingering coffee & chocolatey malt, small dash of herbal hops, warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Plain good!

dark brown colour, one inch creamy beige-ish head; aroma of licorice, cocoa powder, dark berries, dried cherry and some chocolat liqueur; taste has the same notes as can be felt in the aroma with syrupy and some oyster notes, as well as spicy alcohol; I like it very much

Thuis uit een flesje. Een bijna zwarte, maar toch niet helemaal, kleur. Bruin schuim. Prima smaak, caramel, zoetig. Lelijk etiket, maar dat is mijn mening.

Bottle from the Beer Emporium, Bristol. Pours almost black with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit and moderate roasting. Medium plus sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation.

La brasserie Schelde a donc essayé de faire une ode à l'iode. Le résultat me laisse perplexe. L'alliance aromatique n'est pas réellement à mon goût pour un stout qui pourtant a de belles bases. Sa robe est noire totale avec une belle mousse beige de 5 mm d'épaisseur. Le nez est surprenant. L'iode confère un côté fruité très présent en complément du chocolat, du caramel et d'un café lointain. Le est tout de même plus présent lors de l'attaque. Celle-ci se place sur la fraîcheur avec une bonne amertume. La deuxième bouche s'amplifie quelque peu avec un chocolat et un caramel plus présent. L'arrière bouche reste quant à elle sur la fraîcheur et l'amertume avec une dominante café et chocolat (notes iodées moins présentes). La troisième bouche laisse paraître quelque peu paraître des notes épicées en complément du chocolat et du café (toujours avec ce côté iodé mais moins prégnant) avant que le final, moyennement long et légèrement astringent, s'impose sans réellement briller sur un léger élancement. (le final me fait davantage penser à une double qu'à un stout). Cette Oesterstout qui se veut originale n'en transcende cependant pas le genre.
