Taking its name from the men who drank it - the London porters worked the docks of the Thames River during the 1700’s. This dark ale is rich and roasty with a smooth malt finish.

Draft - Toasted malts and some cocoa. Dirty dark brown with a rich beige head, toasted malts, some light nut and coffee bitterness. Not bad.

On nitro tap at The Alibi Room, pours dark orangey brown with a foamy beige head. Aroma of English malt, light treacle and biscuit. Flavour of butterscotch, roasted malt, treacle, light spices and faint chocolate. Great smooth body with rich flavours for a porter. Very enjoyable.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark amber-brown color, with a persistent creamy head. Aroma of dark, roasted malts, light bread. Smooth mouthfeel in the front, with a good roasted malt and dark chocolate flavor, getting drier to the end, more ashy, more toasty; there are light hop qualities, but they are hidden by the dark malts. The dryness of the final is also a bit metallic. Quite tasty overall.

Aroma is okay roasted barley with nothing else on the nose, and none of that barley is turning into other fancy flavours you might reasonably expect from roasted barley. Has modest head, and a dark amber-black body. Flavour is barley, roasted; imagine that! It’s drinkable but missing some serious mastery.

A little thin, with heavy but unpleasant coffee note. .....................

Brown, large lasting off white head. Light toasted nose.Lightly roasted chocolate malt flavor. Like many beers from this brewer, this is misnamed. it is more of a brown ale or even a black lager than a porter. Not bad, just not a porter.
