To commemorate an important milestone in Anchor Brewing’s long history, a special ale seemed appropriate. Having found and experimented with a very rare and unusual hop variety called Nelson Sauvin, we knew that its unique character would impart a wonderful flavor and aroma to a pale ale brewed especially for the occasion: Humming Ale.

Aroma: Floral, pine and very dry and dusty.

Appearance: Clear amber body with a massive white head. Active carbonation. Excellent lacing.

Taste: Bitter and slightly sour. Earthy and metallic notes. Quite boozy for its 5.9% ABV.

Palate: Medium body with a silky, oily mouthfeel. Light carbonation.

Overall: Not very easy drinking, due to its slightly skunky, sour taste.

Aroma is fruity with hops, some resin, pine needles and hints of hay. Flavour is refreshing and hoppy with citrus, some exotic fruits, pine needles and hints of resin. Refreshing and nice, could be more rich though.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark gold with about 3a fingers of thick white head. Aroma is mostly orange with some other citrus. Taste is light bitter. Lots if orange and grapefruit. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. I would really like to try this when its fresh.
