To commemorate an important milestone in Anchor Brewing’s long history, a special ale seemed appropriate. Having found and experimented with a very rare and unusual hop variety called Nelson Sauvin, we knew that its unique character would impart a wonderful flavor and aroma to a pale ale brewed especially for the occasion: Humming Ale.

Bottle @ Zly Casy Pivoteka, Prague. Pours cloudy golden with a creamy white head and lacings. Citrussy and grassy nose and flavor with a bit of bread and caramel beneath. Smooth and dry. Nice

Bottle: Poured a light dirty amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry and lightly funky hoppy notes with dry malt notes. Taste is also a nice mix between some dry and light fruity and funky hops notes with non- descript dry caramel notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well done for a brewery that doesn’t disappoint.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of yest, hops, and citrus fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, yeast, and citrus fruits, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a clear golden with a lively off-white head. Sweet fruit, hops and a little phenols in the nose - or is it just the Nelson Sauvin that comes out this way? Fairly light in body, again slightly phenollic, a little caramel and a dry finish. Not the best take on a Pale Ale really. 140212

12 oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors for $2.15. Big full, frothy head that lasted and laced the lager glass. A grassy and lightly pine nose. The taste however, is slightly resinous up front with a citrus light flavor on the backend. Bready malt is also there for balance. No bitterness here. After I read the commercial description, I was wondering…”How different could this Nelson Sauvin really be ?” Well honesty, it does have its own identity about it. Pleasantly quaffable.
