Nice crisp hazy copper coloured body with a perfect, two centimetre tall slightly off-white head and literally billions of bubbles rising from the bottom - very nice. Aroma of pale malt, light hops, citrus, grapefruits and some nice sweetness. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and floral hoppiness up front with a good malt balance and a nice lightish hop bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with effervescence, some grassy and herbal qualities and a slightly sweet finish. Overall, a nice and refreshing APA with a lot of good grassy flavours and a great balance of hops and malt make for a bitter beer, but still easy drinking! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 24-September-2010 for US$1.49 sampled at home in Washington on 13-December-2011.

Clear orange beer, small creamy white head, unstable. Aroma: very hoppy, bit sweet, honey, yeast notes, bit of urine when swivelling the beer around, some saline touch, oyster like. MF: ok carbon, light to medium body. Taste: citrus start, then wild honey, grassy and herbal notes, tangerines and peaches. Aftertaste: grapefruit, bitter orange peel, nice hoppy finish.

Bottle at Grünerløkka Brygghus. Golden orange with a white head. Nice hoppy aroma of pine and citrus with some caramel. Medium bitterness. Nice dry and bitter finish.

Rated December 2011. 12oz bottle pours crystal clear copper with gold edges and off white head. The mild aroma offers up yeasty notes, a bit of lemon acidity, some floral and spicy hops and then some roasted malts to biscuit like malts. The taste comes across a bit prickly with carbonation and it unloads firm spicy hops, some floral hops, more spicy hops and a thin layer of lemon like acidity. Behind those notes I get a bit more spicy hops floating above a thin layer of biscuit malts. This is good.

Bottle, 5.9%. Nice and refreshing hop aroma, grassy, piney and slightly caramelly. Cloudy dark golden colour. Big stable white head. The flavour is also refreshing, has a good clean bitterness. Grassy and piney hop flavour, but less caramelly than the aroma and most other APAs. Also some fruit from the hop, mango and other subtle notes. Flavourful but well-balanced.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. DArk yellow colour. MOderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. MOderate bitter wonderfull flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Lemon notes. Creamy palate. Excellent bier.

0.355l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. This one pours a clouded deep orange almost copperish with a nice big and heavy lacing just off-white head. The aroma is light hoppy and fruity with some caramel tones. Average to soft carbonation with a medium-bodied light oily mouthfeel. Bitter, hoppy and flowerish flavors on top of some caramel-tones before it ends really mouthdrying and kinda astringent with a lignt sour-like aftertaste. Nothing to special but still nice stuff again from the Anchor.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.9%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Very nice aroma of Nelson Sauvin hops, fruity notes (gooseberries, tropical fruits), hints of pine. Refreshing flavour, medium dry, with a distinct hoppy bitterness throughout, sharpish in the aftertaste. Not very complex.

Pale straw coloured, golden. A small thin head. Fruity and grainy aromas. Flavours of grains, floral hops and sitrus. Long medium+ bitterness and ends dry. Low carbo and a slick mouthfeel. Overall a tastefull, well-balanced americian pale ale with a special nice citrus fruity flavour.

Aroma: The nose is grassy hops, some yeast, bread notes, and just a drop of citrus fruits
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear caramel-orange with a thick, frothy white head, and heavy lacing
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, citrus and malts, with a full grassy bitter hop presence to it
Palate: The body is medium, but leaning full for the style, with an easy drinkability, and a nice dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a pretty solid brew. It combines a nice hop presence with some sweetness, and a good drinkability. It somehow manages to remain quite easy drinking, despite being fairly bold for the style. Sure, it isn't a crazy offering, but it shows how you can take a beer and just make it really well to style. I'm a fan.
