To commemorate an important milestone in Anchor Brewing’s long history, a special ale seemed appropriate. Having found and experimented with a very rare and unusual hop variety called Nelson Sauvin, we knew that its unique character would impart a wonderful flavor and aroma to a pale ale brewed especially for the occasion: Humming Ale.

Bottle @ Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Not much to tell about this beer. In my opinion it’s average on all criteria.

Very stable, fluffy lemon-yellow head over yellow-orange, clear beer. Overpowering rosewater nose for ’miles’, but closeby, nicer, noble dry hops and even some caramel. Faintly citrussy. Excellent citrus, citruspeel, aromatic as none; finish is non-sweet caramel and fine herbs - superb balance. Refreshing, medium bodied. Superb beer. Do they ever miss @ Anchor?

355ml. Slightly hazy golden/orange with gentle bubbles and a generous creamy head. The nose ha orange, ginger and earthiness with grapefruit pith on the end. The taste is spicey with orange, apricot and parsnip. The palate is rich, creamy and fresh without being astringent. Overall, this is a really interesting beer and not the usual citra or cascade hops - is it sorachi?

Half from the draft menu at Euston tap. Slightly hazy, amber coloured body. Decent white head. Lemony hoppy nose. Fresh fruity hops in flavour mixed with caramel malts. Pine-like bitterness to the finish. Likable (London, 21.03.2011).

Bottle form Corks, Bristol. Slightly hazy amber in colour, with plenty of carbonation and an off-white head. Light, pine and honeyed malt aroma. Sweetish, fruity flavour with some citrus hops and moderately bitter finish. Good.
