Coppery-gold hue with a full cascade hop aroma. Rich bready malts lay a perfect foundation for the profusion of tangy, citrusy hops that infuse this beer with a distinct ruby-red grapefruit quality that starts on the palate and lingers through a long satisfying finish.

Cask at the brewpub - hazy orange beer - really fresh hop aroma, with strong citrus zest and medium sweetness - smooth, medium to full bodied - flavor of earthy hops, citrus, light honey, mild bread/grain - a solid IPA, at least on cask.

Bottle. Kind of a brownish color pour with a pretty frothy head that has a bit of sediment sitting on top of it. (Not the prettiest thing ever.) Aromas are pineapple and grapefruit with a little bit of a sweetness to them. Flavor is decent but mouthfeel is strange for an IPA... a little bit more viscous than most and I’m not sure that I like the syrupy texture, given the crispness of the style. Flavor is fairly sweet at first and transitions to a grapefruit & pine hops finish. The sweet malt presence is a little lacking, but I’m not sure how I would fix it, and I’m finding that I’m enjoying it less and less as I work towards the end of the glass.

cask at brewpub - Pours copper with fine bubbles and a long lasting head that left lots of lacing. It really looks great out of the cask. The aroma is mainly hops with ample grapefruit notes. It has agood, crisp hops ibtterness and finish, and enough malt to hold it up. It’s lightly carbonated and has a medium body. Very nice.

Cask sample at the brewpub: Slightly cloudy orange color with a medium thick and rocky off-white head that has fair retention. Sheets of lacing. Aroma of citrus and hops underscored by a pleasantly sweet malt. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with hops, grapefruit and a nice malt base. The finish is hoppy and lasting. Overall this is a good cask IPA.

Bottle. Cloudy sediment-laden peach body, thin off-white head. Strong citrusy aroma, piney, with sweet caramels and breads. Caramely, bready body with light sweetness, balanced by medicinal, herbal hops. There’s a funky yeast component that reminds me of Leopold Bros., another Ann Arbor brewer. Nice.
