Woodchuck Private Reserve Barrel Select is our ultra-limited cider crafted in small batches for a rare taste of sweet, crisp apple cider combined with smoky, dry bourbon flavors. Aged in genuine white oak Kentucky bourbon barrels, this copper-hued gem pairs excellently with cheese, pork roast and chocolate cake. Served best at 50 degrees, Barrel Select is truly an exclusive joy to relish.

Clear, dark amber/orange pour. Fuming scent of acetone & Aunt Jemima. Faint tartness.Tootsie-roll lolipops. Very toasty taste. Lots of toffee. Caramel apples. So much vanilla, help me. Toasted wood planks, molasses, oxidation, headaches. Go away.

Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL, enjoyed while watching the first game of the ALCS on TV. Appearance is a nice, clear, slightly dark amber with no head. Aroma of apple, slight hint of pumpkin & spices, vanilla, smells pretty nice. Taste is rather sweet, but it’s nicely balanced and crisp. Really am enjoying this one, good stuff.

Bottle @ home. Slightly hazy, dark burnt orange appearance with an off white head. Charred wood, vanilla, roasty apple aroma. Sweet apple, charred wood, vanilla, light spice, light bourbon flavor. Kind of a weird concoction.

Good thing we don’t rate labels because this one is hideous. 12 ounce bottle from Belmont Party Supply. Pours a clear amber color with a thin fizzy white head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of tart apples, vanilla and faint whisky notes. The taste is apples, bourbon, maple and wood. Medium bodied. A little on the sweet side. Despite the label its quite a nice cider.

Bubblegum and apple nose. Clear amber. Apple flavor but also an awful lot of bubblegum. Odd, but good. Finishes with a hint of oak, but no bourbon. Completely not what I expected, but very good.
