Franc Belge (5,2% vol.alc.) is a "Spéciale Belge" type beer, an amber colored ale. With an alcohol level of 5,2 % i, it is a beer with a very good drinkability.
Taste; The lightly coloured malts give the beer a soft malty flavour, with a touch of bitterness at the end derived from the Fuggles hops.

Clear medium amber colour, lot of small bubbles, tall creamy off-white head, good lacing. Aroma sweet malt, bit prickly in the nose, caramel, bread, hint of lemon, strong yeast, soap, dishwater. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, caramel, yeast. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, dry malty sweetbitter aftertaste, cardboard, resinous, strange and interesting brew, good.

0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaalbierpakket.bl', best before May 2021. Almost clear, deep amber with a thin, foamy, almost stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, gently yeasty-spicy and a little malty aroma of caramel, leaves, light clove and a touch of vegetables. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently malty, moderately yeasty-spicy taste of caramel, clove, leaves, light vegetables and a touch of grains, followed by a short, quite bitter, gently dry and rather yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite okay, don't get the high score though, I'd rather drink a De Koninck. This one isn't clean, it's way too yeasty, almost a little off. Very disappointing, but I guess it's already too old, probably about a year of age.

Bottle at home. Unclear dark golden/ amber-ish with white head. Dry, grainy, gritty and malty, light floral and quite yeasty. Light sweet and quite bitter. Some stale dirty ditchwater in the finish that gives it a nice sparkle of workingclass depression and stableboy blues. Medium body and soft carbonation. I could drink this as a regular. Simple, brutally honest and quite perfect. More please.

(Draught at Moeder Lambic Original, Brussels, 18 Oct 2019) Hazy amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, orange peel and slightly bretty yeast. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of orange peel, mandarin, spicy yeast and a balanced citric bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Interesting, and quite tasty. Nice one.
