Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale

Scotch Ale is the flagship of our Twisted Oak Stillage Series. Born as a rich, creamy strong ale, it is allowed to rest in wood barrels to mature and develop flavors slowly and naturally. The nose combines bourbon, American oak, and cotton candy aromas. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and toffee. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Bottle - Roasted malts, barrel notes, caramel and bit of whisky. Clear dark amber with a nice beige head. Oak, whisky and caramel grains. Nice, especially if you like oak as it is pretty dominant.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of whiskey, oak, and some subtle caramel malts. Flavour of wood, oak, slightly sweet caramel malts, and candied sugar. Nice balance of flavours, though not quite complex or full-bodied enough for it to be overly enjoyable. Decent stuff.

Bottle from Legacy Liquor Store, Vancouver
The color is dark amber, clean, with generous compact head. Mild aroma of caramel and cereals, with a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel is smooth, the body is correctly structured; it has some flavor of malt and sweet caramel, fudge, moderate residual sugars, some vanilla oak, relatively low bitterness and too much alcohol perception. Too much of this beer may be cloying.
Average beer, drinkable but without a shining trait.
