Part of the Wet Hop Series. Bertwell 80/- is a typical Scottish style 80/- in terms of malt, it is then accented with wet Bertwell hops, the variety originally found in Prince Edward County in Ontario, now being grown at Harvest Hops and Malt in Guelph. The hops were used as a finishing hop and in dry hop.

Bottle - Heavy caramel malts, orange and some candy sweetness. Pale gold with a nice white head. Candy, perfume and light orange/mandarin. Nice but really sweet. Very different from most wet hopped beers which have a lemon citrus dominating characteristic.

This ale poured a deep amber colour with a nice, big, foamy, tan coloured head. No lacing. Scents include malt/caramel, gravy, ripe fruit and a light earthy aroma. First swig had medium carbonation, slightly thin mouthfeel, caramel, dough, tea and leather flavours. Finish is lightly bitter with a small amount of hop bitterness.
