There are two new brewers in Victoria. One crafts his science with malt, hops, & yeast, the other with berries from the Coffee shrub. Kalen selected a coffee from Ethiopia with exceptional fruit qualities and cold brewed it to highlight this unique characteristic. Clay provided a strong, effervescent base and fermented it dry with Saison and Champagne yeasts. Inspired by the great fruit beers of Belgium, they look to re-define what it means to fuse these two great beverages. Bright, fruity and acidic, Shatterbier challenges preconceptions and dares to break away from the norm.

Surprisingly this works. Pours blond but smells like mad espresso. Never seen espresso with this kind of blond Belgian, but it comes together. The floral aroma comes together with the coffee. Pours blond with good head and lacing but finishes a little bitter. On tap at Alibi Room.

Bottle - Funky fruit and coffee, with some savory weirdness. Cloudy copper with a thick foamy head. Effervescent but a dusty earthiness that is an unusual coffee flavor. So odd, but makes for fun conversation.

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber with light head. Aromas of apples, peaches and dried bananas . Flavors of yeast, spice, citrus and toasted malts. Something acidic and dry in the finish that doesn’t go well - maybe the coffee influence?
