Barrel Aged Imperial KY Common. This all started with our recipe for Kentucky Common, the only beer style native to Louisville. Except for this, at the Mayor’s request, we doubled the recipe giving the beer plenty of sweetness with a dash of spice from the corn, barley, and rye. Finally, to make sure that we created a beer that would live up to our city’s namesake, we aged it in Kentucky bourbon barrels for two months. The result is this unique, bourbon aged beer with notes of oak, vanilla, and caramel. We think King Lou would approve! (Imperial Kentucky Common brewed in collaboration with Mayor Greg Fischer for the 2016 LIBA Brewfest. Previous listed ABV 8.1%, IBU 40 and then 10.4% - current ABV is per the bottle).

Bottle: Clear amber with a small, off-white head. Aroma of wood, caramel, bourbon. Flavour is surprisingly light....barely boozy at all, wood, caramel malt. Not bad, but not a lot of substance here.

Bottle. Light lemon, biscuit malt, and straw aroma. Dark golden yellow with moderate head. Mildly sweet barley biscuit malt and mildly bitter straw flavor. Okay body. Alcohol well hidden - but so is the flavor, pretty bland.
