Chocolate malt, and dry wood/grass aroma. Dark brown with light brown head. Mildly sweet molasses, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter wood and dry grass flavor. Good body. Very solid.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours fairly hazy deep reddish copper/brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, nuts, chocolate, cocoa, and coffee; with light notes of toffee, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, nuts, chocolate, cocoa, and coffee; with light notes of toffee, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop; and roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, nuts, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is an excellent English brown ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Very clean, rich, and well rounded English malt complexity; with mild fruity yeast and earthy hop balance. A very enjoyable offering, and amazing spot on style example.

Draft. Brown body. Frothy light tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, hint of nuts. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Sweet roast and light chocolate taste. Average.

Sample at the Northport location. Cloudy brown color with a medium frothy light beige head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Short stringy lacing on the glass. Roast malt, chocolate and a bit of hops in the nose. Light-bodied with a sweet chocolate and malt character, with a touch of earthy hops in the background. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
