A blend of Short's flagship Fruit Ale, Soft Parade, and homemade lemonade.
More refreshing than a state fair lemonade on a hot summer’s day, Soft Parade Shandy delivers all the berries of its big sister, Soft Parade, but blended with homemade lemonade for an extra quenching burst of flavor. Shandy pours raspberry pink and is mildly tart, but has added sweetness from the lemonade which brightens up the berry notes, making this summer crusher just sweet enough to remind you of snow cones and running through sprinklers.

Very crisp and clear bright pink coloured body with a large, almost perfectly white (with a tint of light pink) coloured head, about four centimetres tall and very microfoamed, but leaving an ugly lace on the sides. Aroma of light raspberries, a dash of lemons, some oranges and a light kick of candy, with some softer malt and wheat componenets. Medium-bodied; Quite strong and rich malts show at first with a stronger, jammy, fruity sweetness towards the end that has a lot of residual sugars, but is very easy-drinking thanks to the sweetness. Aftertaste is very clean, with the jam, sugars, fruits and caster sugar flavours at the front with a softer wheat and nuanced not of hay at the end, but this is fresh fruity and very sweet throughout. Overall, a very nice, super fruity, surprisingly rich and pungent beer that is easy-drinking yet fairly complex. Great to sample, especially as a Michigander, during summer from my trip last year with my wife and three kids to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - get this now if you are in the state somewhere! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Super One Foods in Marquette, Michigan for US$1,67 as part of a mixed six pack, on 05-August-2021, packaged on 12-April-2021 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 25-July-2022.

12 ounce can from Total Wine Brookfield, 3/8/19. Slightly hazy pink, large fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of lemon, berries, rye. Taste is raspberry, lemon, rye, doughy malt, lime, spice. Thin, juicy, complex for a shandy. Nice.

Pours pinkish with a white head. It smells like berries and lemons. It tastes sweet with berries, lemonade, and malt because of course it does. It's not really my preference as a style but it's well made.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 8/24/2017. Pours lightly hazy reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1-2 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart/tangy lemon, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, lemon peel, cracker, rye bread, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of lemonade, berries, rye/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart/tangy lemon, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, lemon peel, cracker, rye bread, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light tangy fruit/lemonade tartness and herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy lemon, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, lemon peel, cracker, rye bread, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of lemonade, berries, rye/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/tartness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from fruit tang/tartness and hop bitterness. Fairly clean finishing. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/acidic/tangy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is an awesome shandy! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of lemonade, berries, rye/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and insanely refreshing to drink with the mellowly tart/bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful for the low ABV. Perfectly balanced lemonade, berries, and bready rye malts; with just enough hops for balanced bitterness and a bit of hop presence. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
