Florian and Phil are old brewing friends so it was only a matter of time before these Master Brewers came together to create two completely new beers. Ommegang brewed our German-style doppelbock and fermented it with their Belgian house yeast, while we brewed Ommegang’s Belgian-style dubbel and fermented it with our Zwickel yeast. Our expression - Urbangang - is a balanced combination of malt and spice aromas with a clean lager finish. Prost!

16.9 oz bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in Overland Park, Kansas as part of the Urban Chestnut collaboration mix pack. The pour is a clear copper brown with a fizzy one inch tan head that is lasting. The aroma is floral yeast along with darker fruit malt sweetness. The taste is a clean nutty malt, yeast floral notes and and crisp sweet malt behind. Clean and interesting. The palate is light to medium bodied with a high level of active carbonation and a clean yeast, sweet malt finish. Masks the 9% exceptionally well. Nicely done.

Bottle: Hazed, red-brown with a short tan head. Toffee, yeast, light cocoa aroma. Taste is caramel,chocolate malt mix, slightly peppery. Really nice....

Bottle. Chocolate caramel malt and fresh hay aroma. Dark copper color with giant tan head. Moderately sweet chocolate caramel malt and moderately bitter, astringent green hay flavor. Good body. Decent, straight forward beer.

Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is a massive amount of brown sugar and plumbs. Flavor is some raw sugar, dark fruit, molasses and a bit of star anise. I kind of get some yeast esters that remind me of other Ommegang beers. This was a very flavorful dopplebock. Thick, sweet and lots of dark fruit.

Keg at Urban Chestnut Midtown, 12/17/16. Clear dark reddish brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of raisin, caramel, earth. The taste is raisin, anise, caramel, plum. Medium bodied.
