Pete isn’t wrong, but also he is right. This style of beer comes from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun, where the hotsprings flow. The Kviek (a strain of S. cerevisiae) sailed in ships to Yeast Bay. New to our shores, this traditional Norwegian yeast imparts most of the weirdnesses of spice and orange. We armed these hardy, voracious, immigrant fungi with flaming beech wood, ample juniper, and the earthy spices of Kazbek as they ran over the yielding background of Vienna and Munich. This conquest is now coming to your mouth.
Amassing their forces in the land of the Epididymedes, converging near the Pross State, conducted by mighty Vos the Defrens, and ready for Valhalla, these hordes are coming.

Fra fat på Brewdog Berlin 15 Jan 18. Gylden. Lavt tett skum. Behagelig røykaroma med innslag av malt. Smaken som aromaen. Balansert. Tørr ettersmak. Behagelig øl.

200ml on tap at BrewDog Mitte. Shared with Finn. Crocheted lacing, near-clear mahogany coloured body. Filmy layer. Mid-sweet smoked malty nose. Smoked malts and yeast, woody. Smoked, mid-sweet end. Medium bodied. Rounded mouth feel. Pleasing. (Berlin 15.01.2018).

Growler: Pours copper/amber with an off-white head. Caramel, lightly smoky aroma. Taste is slightly lactic caramel malt, evergreens, wood. A nice combo of smoke and cooling juniper. Really nice.

Draft. Sour milk, smoked malt, and hay aroma. Copper with moderate off-white head. Lightly sweet milky smoky caramel malt, and mildly bitter earthy juniper flavor. Good body. Not all that weird - a nice smoked beer.
