Butte Creek Organic Porter pours into the pint dark brown, almost black in color. Porters are honest ales, they taste like they look - Rich, dark and chocolaty, with not so subtle undertones of caramel and coffee. But unlike its dour dusky look, it flows through the mouth with a velvety smooth texture, and finishes with just a hint of hop crispness derived from traditional aroma hops. This is a powerful porter that can be enjoyed with bangers and mash, a hearty meal or even paired with a fine desert. 6.0% ABV, OG 14.5, IBU 18.

A deep red beer with a fluffy brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, dusty hops, and hints of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol, wood, and roasted malt. A quite light porter.

Sweet chocolate seemed most prevelant in this porter — almost too sweet, like a thin sweet stout or watered down chocolate milk. Brown body, small head that disappeared quickly. Aroma was roasted malty with a hint of java and a hint of hops. The flavor was well to the sweet side with notes of chocolate and brown sugar. Some roasted malts and a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery body.

A pleasing, easy drinking and flavorful porter. Aroma rich with cookie, molasses, chocolate. Flavor dryer than the aroma preedicts, featuring dry cocoa and a touch of molasses. Soft mouthfeel, and light to medium weight. Purplish brown color.

Nose of roasted malt and a little coffee, transparent dark brown, with a tiny beige head; nice coffee and roast malt flavor, not great but decent.

Deep coffee and roasted malt flavor. Also a bit of chocolate, bittersweetness, and nuttiness. Fairly full bodied flavor present with a nice clean and dry finish.

Bottled@SBWF2009. Quite much as the rating above, but also being very sticky sweet which I didn’t like too much. 6 4 6 3 12.
