At Madame Sofia’s Finnishing School for Wayward Reindeer Farm Daughters we learn many things. We learn to curtsy, smile and never laugh at dirty jokes... We learn that traditional Finnish beer is called Sahti and it is brewed with rye and juniper and fermented with a Weizen yeast. We learn that these flavors blend for an aroma of orange and banana, a spicy phenolic, fruity flavor and zesty citrus finish. We learn that reindeer aren’t suitable lovers no matter how cold it gets, but this beer is suitable to serve guests any time of year.

Hand bottle from shrubber85. Opaque dark Amber with very small off-white head. Aroma is nice rich caramel malt, medium body, low carbonation, and very little lacing. Taste is caramel malt, some juniper, some spicy rye malt, some banana, and chalky yeast.

Draft. Juniper, banana, clove, and caramel malt aroma. Murky brown-yellow with moderate head. Moderately sweet banana/orange, clove, caramel malt, and moderately bitter juniper flavor. Nice body. I’ve only had a couple of authentic Sahtis (thanks to Jukkabro) - seems like this one nails the style - excellent.
