A classic, Bavarian-style Hefeweizen, unfiltered and highly carbonated, with flavors and aromas of banana and clove. Hazy golden in color, utilizing a decoction mash, Andechs Weiss yeast, and Noble hops for a delicious, refreshingly traditional, summertime brew.

Pour is a bright orange with a large white head. Aroma has some banana and clove with a big orange peel. Flavor is pretty much the same with a minor banana and clove with some sweet orange finish. This was fine. A bit sweet but other than that it's pretty spot on for the style.

Sample at the taproom. Hazy dark golden color with a medium thin bone white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lace. Wheat, banana and spice in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of floral wheat, banana, yeast and cloves. The finish is wheaty with a banana aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle: Bubbly, cloudy, dirty gold with a thick white head. Slightly soured orange/banana scent. Taste is a bit tart.....wheat malt, orange, clove... A bit of raspberry?... Slightly acidic and runs a little harsh.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen glass. Translucent deep orange with small white head. Aroma is caramel may, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is clove and bready caramel malt. I prefer more esters in hefes, more like a session weizenbock.

Bottle. Banana, clove, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet-tart lemon, banana, clove, light wheat malt, and straw flavor. Body light. Not bad but would have liked more of malt flavor.

Draft at Angelo Caputo’s. I’ve been looking for a local hefeweizen in this summer of too many IPAs, and finally got this one. It’s cloudy, and much darker than the normal bright weizen. Head is more of a regular beer head than the usual puffy one found atop a hefeweizen. Taste is a bit thicker than I know of for this style, but with prominent clove on the palate. Pretty malty, which seems to be the Church Street house style.
