Bottle. Medium brown in color with a medium to small head. OMG when I opened the bottle it smelled just like a freshly baked pretzel. Taste was like a pretzel also. Don’t know how they did it but it’s actually pretty good.

On tap at Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown, NJ. Light brown color. Brief beige head. Bready malt aroma reminiscent of soft pretzels. Flavor is sweet toasted malt. Light bodied. Not much else.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 8/12/2016. Pours hazy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of steaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, orange peel, coriander, clove, wheat, toasted biscuit, salt, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and light-moderate yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, orange peel, coriander, clove, wheat, toasted biscuit, salt, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, orange peel, coriander, clove, wheat, toasted biscuit, salt, light chocolate/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, spices, and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/grainy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel; a bit on the thin side, but good. Slightly watery. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a good witbier. All around good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, spices, and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and easy to drink. Surprisingly tasty for a gimmick beer; tastes like a balance between witbier and salted pretzel flavors. A nicely flavorful and enjoyable offering.

12ozbottle into a Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip glass on 26th April 2016, Lugana Niguel at my daughters. Red hue to the mahogany body, head departed before it arrived. Sweet flavours over a red berry and malty nose, some caramel notes in the sweetness, calmed down in the sweet stakes by those aforementioned red berries and a spicy hint or two. No bread or pretzel flavours for me. Different and almost interesting, pity about the head being a ’no show’.

bottle - Pours amber and smells like a pretzel though in a vaguely artificial way. The flavor is sweet with some bready malt, caramel, and a little salt. There’s little that makes me think of a Belgian style as the commercial deScription indicates. Ultimately it’s a mediocre base beer with a gimmicky pretzel flavored addition that makes for a drinkable but unimpressive beer.
