Amber, smooth, and resinous, this ale was inspired by our exploration of Australian hops. We discovered that their rugged, spicy and piney character brightened a back-bone of roasted caramel malts, creating a beer with surprising depth and smoothness.

Bottle. Clear amber in color with a medium head. Very hoppy in aroma like an IPA. Taste was also like an IPA.

Bottle. Bronze beer with a dark cream head. Grapefruit and caramel aroma. Caramel and grapefruit flavor with light toasted malt. Medium bodied. Toasted malt and caramel linger with grapefruit.

Actually very good for style. A lot of piney hops in this. Amber pour with decent head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Some caramel. Very good. Bottle.

12oz bottle at home. Poured an amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light citrus, pine resin notes. Light sweet caramel malt notes. Flavor was light hoppy citrus, pine resin. Pretty tasty!

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, reddish-brown with a tall, frothy head that lasts a long time. Strong sour hops aroma. Bitter-hoppy flavor that’s a bit overpowering with a mild sourness. Light body with a thin texture. Finish is a bit on the sour side but fades fairly quickly.

Overall, not my cup of tea. It’s just too hoppy and bitter for my tastes. But I have friends who would go ga-ga over it. So to each, their own.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 12/2016. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange zest, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light toffee, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange zest, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light toffee, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange zest, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal.floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.7%. Overall this is a very nice hoppy amber ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Pretty bright/juicy on the hop flavors, with a nice malt backbone that is not too sweet. A very enjoyable offering.
