Rich malts create a toffee & butterscotch flavor; combined with hazelnuts this brown ale has a great nutty twist, like Hazel herself!

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of hazelnut with notes of toffee and sweet grains supporting. Flavor is full of hazelnut and is supported by chocolate, toffee and sweet grains.

Bottle. Huge roasted hazelnut and butterscotch malt aroma. Dark brown with huge tan head. Lightly sweet roasted hazelnut, butterscotch/chocolate malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body and great balance. Spectacular.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered opaque burgundy brown body. Soda-like head mostly fades away after a few minutes. Massive hazelnut aroma. Massive hazelnut flavor. Big nutty tones, pretty unique. Besides that there isn’t a whole lot going on, some chocolate and presumably amber malt to round it out. I somehow doubt there isn’t some sort of flavor extract at play here, but I still kind of dig it, could see myself ordering another one.
