Bottle. Earthy sour milk caramel malt and grapefruit peel aroma. Cloudy brown with moderate head. Very sweet brown sugar malt and moderately strong pine/grapefruit peel flavor. Not particularly pleasant.

Bottle: Cloudy brown with a short tan head. Caramel, bready aroma. Taste is very woody....sweet toffee malt, dark fruit, dark bread. Pretty good, but a little on the sticky-sweet side... Alcohol grows more apparent as it warms.

Tap. Pours hazy red amber, medium creamy beige head, nice lacing. Aroma is rich bourbon, vanilla, toffee. Flavor follows, full sweet, light bitter, rich, bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark sugars. Full body, creamy, lingering bitterness. Nice, but this is a barley wine...

Sample at Daily Growler UA. The beer is a hazy dark amber/copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon and caramel. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, oaky bourbon and fruit. The finish is oaky with a caramel and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On tap at Owen & Engine. Pours a clear amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a note of grapefruit and pine with a decent amount of vanilla and sweet grain. Flavor has some oaky vanilla up front with a good amount of grapefruit coming out.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Deep brown-red color. Oily head. Some hops in the aroma, but seem covered up in thick malt. Bourbon really takes over. Very malty. Solid hop backbone, with this is closer to Barleywine than IIPA. Lots of fruity caramel tones. A little underwhelming flavorwise, while overwhelming in body. Begins to finish scotchy and smoky, a little fig. OK, but not that impressive overall.
