The flash of this spinnerbait stimulates the senses with its sweet malty currents and deep red hues. Our BA reels with fruity esters and spicy notes from the Ardennes yeast which swirl through the Belgian rock candy, casting the perfect presentation for the hops to set the hook on this big boy.

Rich deep brown coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying white head. Aroma of light malt, apples, pears, yeast, light caramel and a touch of other fruits, but nothing great. Medium-bodied; Strong yeast and malt flavours with a light sweetness and no complexity nor depth - some raisin flavours to finish it off. Aftertaste shows some malt and alcohol with a little sweetness, but nothing great. Overall, a fairly bland beer with some light flavours, but nothing exciting nor complex. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye St NW), DC on 14-January-2015 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 11-July-2015.

From a bottle has an alarming smell of yeast from east end. Darker beer. Estery banana clove yeasty thang. Yes, could be a little more reserved. Does not hide the alky well. A little difficult at times.

Bottle. Lightly musty red cherry and light malt aroma. Dark chestnut brown with moderate light tan head. Musty yeasty lightly fruity toffee malt flavor. Very light body. Not much to this.

Bottle: Brown-copper with a soapy, off-white ring. Fruity aroma, berry, pera, apple, banana. Taste is sweet, a little peppery spice, fruit, yeast, caramel malt. A slight leafy bitter at finish. A very tasty, different take on the style.

Well this is weird and a good reason to avoid rating by style. Labeled a Belgian red but smells and tastes like banana. If you told me it was a Bavarian dunkel weizen, I’d believe it. Except that its fairly clear with no apparent sediment. Darkish red color, large foamy head. Vague medicinal phenols. Semi-dry at the finish. I don’t love phenolic beers, but this is alright.

Rustico, Virginia Ballston: Pours brown with a white head. Aroma is light roast, herbs, and floral. Taste is lightly sweet with some sugary finish. It is a little dry. I was not that impressed.

Location: Draft at Queen City Q, 2/4/15
Aroma: The nose is sweet malts/candied sugar, Belgian yeast, spice, and some caramel
Appearance: It pours a clear mahogany color with a small beige colored head
Flavor: The flavor is fairly heavy sweet, a little spice attempts to balance, but can't get there
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, there's a bit of stickiness, and it drinks pretty easily
Overall Impression: Wasn't a favorite for me. I found it to be too one-dimensional sweet without enough of a balancing component, which could have worked had I enjoyed the sweet flavor profile more, but this one was only okay.

Clear dark chestnut body with a generous off-white head. Spicy, yeasty, candy aroma. Some pepper. The flavor is spicy, some sweetness, some hop bitterness.
