From the depths of German tradition comes Side Trail Series #2, Bock Ness Monster. Historically German monks brewed this behemoth beer to sustain them through their Lent fast. Like the doppelbocks before him, Bock Ness Monster’s aroma is dominated by traditional Munich malts but with subtle hints of chocolate and plum. The flavors of rich maltiness, toasty biscuit, light caramel, and dark chocolate flood your mouth with every sip. This beer is a flavor monster and and big enough to hold you over til lunch. Do as the Monks do – drink your breakfast.

Draft. Deep amber/brown body with a short off-white head. Malty aroma of caramel, biscuit, plum. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of dark fruit, especially plum. Sweet finish and a bit watery for a doppelbock. Quaffable, though.

Draft. Lightly smoky lactic toffee malt aroma. Brown with small head. Sweet toffee malt and lightly bitter/astringent herbal flavor. Body on the light side especially for a doppelbock. Tastes okay but very light for a doppelbock.
